I am a Cardiologist and Clinician Educator at the University of Toronto. I work at the Toronto Rehabilitation (TR), Rumsey Cardiac Rehab, providing primary and secondary cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation. My special interests include women’s cardiovascular health, cardiometabolic health, and education.
After completing Cardiology training in Brazil in 2007, I furthered my studies in arterial hypertension at UAB, USA. Back in Brazil, I obtained a PhD after exploring the effects of sleep apnea on blood pressure, glucose and lipids. Toronto has been home since 2015, when I started a post-doctorate fellowship at UHN to further analyze the impact of sleep apnea on the cardiovascular system.
Since earning a Master of Science in Community Health (Health Practitioner Teacher Education) in 2020, I have become passionate about education. During my fellowship in Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (2018-2022), I had the opportunity to leverage education for healthcare providers, people with lived experience and anyone interested in cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation in our centre.
My goal at CWHHA is to expand education and advocacy in women’s cardiovascular health, ultimately enhancing care in Canada and internationally.
