Dr. Myles O’Brien is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Université de Sherbrooke based out of the New Brunswick Medical Training Center (Centre de Formation Medicalé du Nouveau-Brunswick). Dr. O’Brien is also a Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Clinical Exercise Physiologist. His team of trainees and post-doctoral fellows span Medicine, Physiotherapy, and Kinesiology departments. Dr. O’Brien’s research program studies the impact of movement and postures on cardiovascular function and frailty in older males and females. His lab has special interests in wearable technology, blood pressure regulation, autonomic function, and ultrasound-derived endothelial function. A forefront aspect of his research program is testing models to reduce sedentary time among older males and females during hospitalization to prevent deconditioning. His interest is in building collaborations between researchers, hospitals, and community organizations to improve the day-to-day practices of knowledge users.
