Ann-Marie Julien brings a unique blend of paid work experience as a former executive in the federal public service with notable volunteer experiences in health care settings. Her work in a variety of federal government organizations focussed on integrating creative approaches and practices, from leading the delivery of the Canada Student Loans Program to federal-provincial-territorial initiatives as lead within the Division of Aging and Seniors. She has experience in policy development, program design and operational delivery, and spent some time leading teams in strategic human resources and communications. As a volunteer with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Ann-Marie is a peer support group leader for the Women@HeartPeer Support Group Program, co-chair of the Patient Partnership Council, organizes and moderates HeartWise webinars targeted to patients “on the other side” of a heart diagnosis or event and reviews and provides input on patient education materials. As a volunteer with the Canadian Cardiovascular Network (CANet), she hosts a series of Ticker Talks podcasts, a patient partner with the VIRTUES Patient Working Group and has contributed to the design and delivery of the recent Public Forum in Montreal on October 25, 2023, focused on sharing patient perspectives. She is also on the project team for several research projects. She enjoys the opportunity to work with both the clinical and research teams, providing real life insight and practical ideas to improve patient care. She believes in the power of knowledge and engagement to build strong positive outcomes–for people, for partnerships and for systems.
