Biography
Bonnie Quinlan is the Director of Prevention & Rehabilitation at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
Bonnie received her Baccalaureate in Nursing Science in 1993 from the University of Ottawa and her Masters Degree in Nursing Science in 2008 from Charles Sturt University in Australia. She joined the Heart Institute in 1988 as a Clinical Staff Nurse. In her previous role as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Smoking Cessation, she played an integral part in the development of the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation and of the Champlain network.
Bonnie has provided training in the use of Best Practice Guidelines related to smoking cessation interventions as well as individual counselling of patients. As an Advanced Practice Nurse in Cardiology, she has provided clinical expertise in the field of cardiovascular nursing and works to ensure patients receive the highest standard of care.
Bonnie’s current role as Director of Prevention & Rehabilitation integrates her management , clinical skills, and leadership together to work with the team to progress the treatment of cardiovascular disease in the region and beyond.
Bonnie’s research interests include cardiovascular nursing research, patient care outcomes, health promotion, best practices in smoking cessation and disease prevention.
