Biography
Cristina D’Alessandro is a Primary Care Paramedic with York Region Paramedic Services and a documentary film writer and producer. Her work has spanned both realms of academia and advocacy. Cristina holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University of Toronto and studied cardiovascular physiology at Dalhousie University. Her research interests include investigating the clinical utility of prehospital heart and lung point of care ultrasound. In 2019 she wrote and produced a short documentary film on the cardiac gender gap entitled ‘A Typical Heart’. Cristina is dedicated to optimizing cardiovascular care of women by paramedics in the prehospital setting.
