Biography
Jennifer Williams is a postdoctoral fellow in clinical cardiovascular physiology at the University o fToronto, working under the supervision of Dr. Amy Kirkham. She is also a recent PhD graduate from McMaster University, where she was supervised by Dr.Maureen MacDonald. Her PhD research examined the impact of sex hormones (e.g., natural menstrual cycles, oral contraceptives) on cardiovascular and respiratory outcomes in women. Further, her research and advocacy efforts aimed to reduce barriers for integrating female participants in cardiovascular and exercise physiology research studies. Currently, in her postdoctoral research, she is running studies examining the impact of diet ande xercise on cardiometabolic health in pre-and post-menopausal women, and looking at how hormonal therapies impact the cardio-and cerebrovascular health of breast cancer survivors. Outside of her research, she is an advocate for women in STEM, leading community-based programs, workshops and conferences, and as a mentor to high school and post-secondary women
