Biography
Dr. Forcillo is a cardiac surgeon who works at the University of Montreal Hospital Centre (CHUM). Her main interests are valvular heart surgery and aortic surgery. She is the first formerly trained cardiac surgeon in Canada in surgery and percutaneous valve procedures as she did a two year fellowship in one of the highest volume Centre in the USA (Emory University Hospitals) in transcatheter valve therapies. Research is also a big part of Dr Forcillo's career. She has a Master in Biomedical Sciences and a Master in Public Health. She also just graduated from a PhD in Biomedical Sciences in February 2021. She is part of a research team at Cape Town (South Africa) that works with the African Union in order to scale up cardiac surgery programs in Africa and mainly access to heart valve therapies. Dr. Forcillo is eager to participate in the development of new technologies especially heart valve and aortic endovascular therapies. She also has a special interest in women's cardiovascular health as she is one of the co-founder of the Cardio-F clinic which is at the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) and opened in January 2021.
