Biography
Madelene Daniel is a Registered Nurse living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. She has a Bachelor’s degree with honours in the Science of Nursing from the University of British Columbia, a Masters degree in Health Studies from Athabasca University, and multiple certificates in Health and Life Coaching. Madelene has been a RN for morethan30 years–most of those years working in heart healthcare. From the coronary care unit at British Columbia’s Heart Health Center in Vancouver, to developing the Central Island Cardiac Risk Reduction/Rehabilitation program and the Nanaimo Heart Function Clinic on Vancouver Island, to supporting provincial and national heart health initiatives, Madelene’s career has focused on supporting people through lifestyle changes after they have had a heart event. Madelene believes in the power of research-based lifestyle medicine that shows our day-to-day choices have more of an impact on our health and wellness and preventing chronic disease than anything else. As a Nurse Coach, Madelene is passionate about working with people, leaning into the principles of lifestyle medicine and nurse coaching to prevent having a heart attack or developing chronic disease in the first place. Madelene believes in preventive healthcare, person-centered care and empowering people with actions that they can achieve that fits with their life and life style.
Madelene is a member of the Canadian Council of Cardiovascular Nursesand is studying to become a Board-Certified Nurse Coach through the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation. She is a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
When Madelene is not coaching and working as a RN, she is outside with her hiking partner Genoadog. She is a proud member o fa hiking group called Educated Women for Educating Girls. She enjoys, hiking, trekking, sailing, kayaking, and gardening in her free time.
