Biography
My name is Nicole Collin, and I am a registered nurse (RN) working in the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology lab at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. I have eight years of acute care nursing experience in the emergency department and cardiac catheterization lab. I am currently pursuing my Master of Nursing for Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. As a future primary care provider, I am eager to couple my enthusiasm and interest for cardiac care within a primary care setting.
Women’s heart health is underserved and there are educational and awareness gaps for healthcare providers and patients. As a new member I would be well positioned to help bridge this gap and become a leader in primary care for women in my community. My previous clinical cardiac experience and future advanced clinical role as a nurse practitioner would allow me to advocate and advance cardiovascular care for women. I interact with women on a weekly basis who feel frustrated and hopeless about the symptoms they are experiencing. I am in a unique position to provide direct patient care and education to patients and other health care providers.
