Biography
Dr. Lindsay is currently the Director of Health Systems Change at the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canada, where she leads strategic directions for heart conditions, stroke and vascular cognitive impairment across Canada; an enabler and catalyst for health systems of care planning and delivery activity, including quality and performance measurement and monitoring across the continuum; senior editor of the Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations; and work in knowledge translation that includes promotion of innovative digital and remote learning opportunities.
She is a champion for people with lived experience, providing support, education, and finding meaningful ways to engage people in the work she leads, especially women with heart and stroke related conditions. Her primary areas of focus at this time are identifying gaps in heart failure systems of care and building collaborative implementable solutions; the integration of virtual care in health services delivery across the continuum; advancing stroke systems of care, and improving access to rehabilitation; and, equity, diversity and inclusion for to ensure all people in Canada have access to the health services they need.
She is a respected expert member of several international stroke related committees and research collaborations. Dr. Lindsay is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal for her efforts to improve stroke care and outcomes in Canada and internationally: and the 2016 University of Toronto Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation Leadership Award. Dr. Lindsay has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Western Ontario and completed her PhD in Health Services Research/Evaluation and Outcomes at the University of Toronto.
