Biography

Dr. Patrice Lindsay is a distinguished leader in stroke, brain, and heart health, celebrated for her transformative work in improving stroke systems across Canada. As a clinical leader, advocate, and researcher, she has pioneered efforts to enhance stroke care delivery, focusing on systems of care, prevention, and recovery. Dr. Lindsay has also played a key role in developing strategic frameworks for heart failure and congenital heart disease. A passionate advocate for the active involvement of individuals with lived experience in healthcare, Dr. Lindsay champions their engagement in research, clinical care, education, and advocacy. She is especially dedicated to advancing women’s heart and brain health. Her work at the Heart and Stroke Foundation and her research on stroke care protocols, patient outcomes, and health system optimization has been widely published, and she regularly speaks at national and international conferences, sharing insights with healthcare professionals and policymakers.  Dr. Lindsay has received numerous accolades for her contributions to stroke care and health system improvement, shaping a more patient-centered and efficient stroke care model in Canada and globally. Dr. Lindsay is a recipient of the World Stroke Organization 2024 Award for Stroke Services and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal. Dr. Lindsay holds a degree in nursing from the University of Western Ontario and a PhD from the University for Toronto focused on health systems performance. She is a Fellow of the World Stroke Organization.
